The Ripple Effect: an evening with purpose

Throughout the history of camp, God has used ordinary people in simple ways to accomplish extraordinary things.

One of those ways today is through gathering others together.

We invite you to host a small dinner where friends and family can hear the heart behind the Legacy Campaign: Honoring the Past. Building the Future.

Host Toolkit

1. The Heart Behind Hosting

Before anything practical, ground this spiritually:

“You’re not hosting an event—you’re creating space for God to work through relationships.”

What you’re doing:

Opening your home (or table)
Sharing something you love
Inviting others into eternal impact

What you’re NOT doing:

Selling
Pressuring
Having all the answers

2. What Is a Ripple Effect Gathering?

A simple, relational evening where:

Friends gather around a table
Stories of life change are shared
Guests are invited to partner with what God is doing at LLBC

3. Your Role as a Host

Your role is beautifully simple:

You:

Pray for your guests
Invite 6–12 people
Provide a meal (simple is perfect)
Share briefly why LLBC matters to you

LLBC Team:

Shares the vision and stories
Communicates the opportunity to give
Handles follow-up

You are the bridge, not the speaker.

4. Who Should You Invite?

Think relationally, not strategically.

Invite people who are:

Friends, neighbors, coworkers
Open to faith-based conversations
Generous or community-minded
Parents, grandparents, or those who care about youth

Helpful framing:

“Who in my life would be encouraged by what God is doing at camp?”

5. Sample Invitation (Text or Email)

Hey! I’m hosting a small dinner at our home on [date], and I’d love for you to come.

We’ll have a simple meal and hear a short update from Lake Lundgren Bible Camp—it’s a place that’s had a big impact on our lives and so many others.

No pressure at all—just a relaxed evening to connect and hear some meaningful stories.

Would you be open to joining us?

6. Simple Evening Flow (60–90 Minutes)

1. Welcome & Meal (30–45 min)
Keep it relaxed, relational, and unhurried.

2. Transition (Host – 2 min)
Share briefly:

Why you wanted to host

3. LLBC Presentation (20–30 min)
Given by staff (stories, vision, campaign)

4. Invitation (5–10 min)
Guests are invited to:

Pray
Give
Stay connected

5. Conversation & Close (15–20 min)
Natural discussion, questions, connection

7. What Should You Serve?

Keep it simple and authentic:

Soup + bread
Taco bar
Pasta night
Dessert & coffee (works great too)

“Warmth matters more than impressiveness.”

8. Creating the Right Atmosphere

Aim for:

Comfortable, not formal
Welcoming, not polished
Christ-centered, not forced

Practical touches:

Soft background music
Name tags (optional)
Candle or simple centerpiece
Seating that encourages conversation

9. How to Share Your Story (2–3 Minutes)

Keep it personal and real:

Simple structure:

How you got connected to LLBC
What you’ve seen God do there
Why it matters to you today

“Don’t preach—just share.”

10. Prayer Covering

Encourage hosts to pray:

Before invitations go out
For each guest by name
Before the gathering begins
That hearts would be open

“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” (Psalm 127:1)

11. After the Gathering

Host follow-up is simple but meaningful:

Send a thank-you message
Personally connect with guests who showed interest
Encourage next steps (visit camp, give, attend an event)

LLBC team handles:

Donation follow-up
Deeper engagement

12. Multiplication Vision

This is where it becomes a movement:

“Who at your table might host the next table?”

Encourage hosts to:

Identify 1–2 potential future hosts
Invite them into the vision
